GoldieBlox and the Dunk Tank
GoldieBlox and the Dunk Tank is a fun little building kit in the GoldieBlox line of toys. The set includes some building materials that are compatible with the other GoldieBlox sets, a ball, and a dog figurine. The instructions guide kids (some adult help is likely required for 6 and under) in constructing a pivoting platform on which the dog can sit, such that when a ball strikes a nearby target, the platform drops and the dog falls down. Construction takes about 15 minutes. The "dunk tank" is not included, but any plastic container filled with water will do. My kids love to dunk the dog and all of their other figurines, so after this is constructed, they play with it for a good 15 or 30 minutes. My main criticism of this toy is that it is only really intended to build one structure - there aren't a whole lot of ways to combine the parts to make alternative dunk tanks or other structures. Overall, though, this is a great engineering toy for girls ages 4 and up.
